Getting Started & Sourcing

Key information regarding minimum order quantities, garment categories, design submission, and sample production.

Our minimum order quantity starts from 50 units per design and colorway for custom cut-and-sew casual wear, streetwear, and athleisure. Specific garment constructions, custom-knitted fabric compositions, or specialized Pantone dyeing may increase the MOQ to 100+ units depending on mill requirements.

Because we operate our own production lines, our infrastructure scales seamlessly from initial 50-piece capsule collections to high-volume commercial production runs of 10,000+ units per style.

Yes. Range prototyping and pre-production sampling are mandatory steps in our manufacturing route. Once your project details are confirmed, we develop a physical prototype allowing you to review fabric handfeel, fit, grading, stitching integrity, and custom finishing prior to bulk production.

A physical sample of each design is produced and dispatched for client sign-off. Minor spec refinements can be made at this stage to guarantee complete accuracy before cutting bulk rolls.

Hawthorn operates a dual-structure system designed specifically for overseas B2B buyers and fashion brands:

  • UK Headquarters & Project Management: Located in Central London, providing English-speaking account management, technical merchandisers, and UK corporate contract security.
  • Owned Offshore Factory Infrastructure: Bulk cut-and-sew manufacturing is carried out in our owned overseas facilities, combining European technical management with global cost efficiency.

We specialize in full-scale custom apparel production across multiple product categories, including:

  • Streetwear & Casualwear: Heavyweight hoodies, t-shirts, tracksuits, sweatshirts, and jogger pants.
  • Activewear & Athleisure: Technical gymwear, performance tops, leggings, and seamless garments.
  • Denim & Tailored Casuals: Custom jeans, denim jackets, woven button-up shirts, and outerwear.
  • Knitwear & Loungewear: Fully fashioned knits, sweaters, cardigans, and premium loungewear.

While comprehensive tech packs accelerate development, they are not strictly required to initiate a quote. If you only have initial sketches, mood boards, or physical reference garments, our in-house technical design team can construct complete tech packs, measurement charts, and bills of materials (BOM) for your collection.

Materials & Quality Control

Detailed insights on fabric sourcing, ethical standards, branding options, and quality assurance processes.

Fabrics are milled or custom-woven based on your exact product requirements for GSM weight, composition, drape, and handfeel. We source organic cottons (GOTS certified), Supima cottons, recycled polyesters, and technical blend fabrics from audited yarn suppliers.

All fabrics undergo pre-production inspection to verify colorfastness, shrinkage tolerance, and shade consistency prior to pattern cutting.

We provide complete private label finishing services in-house, including:

  • Custom woven neck labels, satin wash care labels, and heat-transfer inner prints.
  • High-density screen printing, DTG (Direct-to-Garment), puff print, and all-over sublimation.
  • 3D embroidery, applique patches, custom metal hardware, drawcords, and custom swing tags.
  • Individual polybag packaging with barcode stickers or custom-printed brand packaging.

Quality control is executed at four distinct production checkpoints:

  • Raw Material Audit: Mill-level inspection of fabric rolls, hardware, and dyes.
  • In-Line Stitching Audit: Monitoring seam strength, tension, and panel alignment during assembly.
  • End-of-Line Audit: 100% measurement verification against your approved size grading chart.
  • Pre-Shipment Inspection: Final audit of finishing, pressing, thread trimming, labeling, and packing.

Yes. Fully fashioned knitwear (sweaters, cardigans, beanies) is available with minimum orders starting from 100 pieces per style. For womenswear, we manufacture casual styles, t-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits, denim, and activewear. We do not manufacture specialized evening wear, bridal dresses, or lingerie.

Commercial & IP Rights

Information on bulk pricing structures, payment terms, confidentiality agreements, and commercial suitability.

Yes. Garment manufacturing operates on clear economies of scale. Unit production costs decrease significantly as order quantities scale from 50 pieces to 250, 500, 1,000+ pieces, as fixed costs like pattern setup, machine calibration, and fabric milling are distributed over more units.

Intellectual Property protection is guaranteed under UK contract law. All custom patterns, tech packs, graphics, and proprietary designs remain your exclusive property. We do not resell customer designs, sell stock garments, or share technical specs with third parties. Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) can be executed prior to document submission.

We accept international bank wire transfers (TT/BACS/SWIFT) under standard commercial terms outlined in your proforma invoice. All transaction milestones and account details are clearly specified prior to order booking.

Hawthorn is ideal for: Established fashion brands, emerging clothing labels, corporate apparel programs, high-end merchandise, and businesses seeking fully custom cut-and-sew garments with low MOQs and strict quality control.

We are NOT suitable for: One-off single custom items, print-on-demand dropshipping, blank wholesale stock purchases, or standalone prototyping without intent for bulk production.
